The only people in a Universe this big?

Yesterday l was listening to a podcast of the Science show from radio national and they where talking to a scientist about how he started to discover there would be an Earth like planet orbiting most of the sun like stars in our Universe.
With there being over one billion sun like stars in our Galaxy alone it really makes you think.

What types of other lifeforms that might be out there waiting to be discovered?

l have often looked up into the sky for hours at a time and just wondered what is out there.

l have always believed we are not alone.
